Hex FreeCell

FreeCell for one player: all the cards face up, and four free cells. Put every card on its pile, from the ace to the king.

Hex FreeCell is FreeCell, the game of patience where all the cards are face up from the start, for one player. Put every card on the four piles at the top, each from the ace up to the king, using the eight columns of the table and the four free cells. Almost every game can be won: your score is your own, and your best games go into the ranking.

Controls

  • Tap a card — Move it, or the cards on top of it, to its place: a pile at the top first, then a column that takes it, then a free cell
  • Drag — Move a card, or the cards on top of it, onto another pile or into a free cell

Rules

  • On the table, a card goes on a card one higher in value and of the other colour: a red six on a black seven. Any card goes into an empty column.
  • A free cell holds one card. The more free cells and empty columns you have, the longer the run of cards you can move at once.
  • A card that no other card still needs goes up to its pile by itself. When every column runs down in order, the rest go up by themselves.
  • When no card can move any more, the game ends with the points you have.

Score

  • A card on a pile at the top is worth 10 points; taking one back costs 15.
  • Every ten seconds of play cost 2 points. A win earns a time bonus: the faster, the bigger.
  • The End button keeps the points you have. A game still open after an hour ends by itself.

Inspiration

FreeCell is a game of patience from the twentieth century, made famous on the PC by the version that came with Windows.
