Hex Sudoku is Sudoku for one player. Fill the 9×9 grid so every row, every column and every 3×3 box holds the digits 1 to 9 once. Every grid is made new for your game and has one solution, which you can always reach without guessing. The fastest wins go into the ranking.
Controls
- Tap a square, or move with the arrows — Choose it. Its row, column and box are highlighted, and so is every square with the same digit
- Tap a digit next to the grid, or press 1 to 9 — Write that digit in the square you chose. A digit turns grey next to the grid once all nine are in place
- The pencil, or N — Switch between digits and notes. With the pencil on, a digit is written small, as a note. The same digit again removes it.
- The eraser, Delete or Backspace — Clear the chosen square's digit or notes
- The light bulb, or H — A hint: reveal the chosen square, or one at random when the chosen square is already correct
- The arrow, or Z — Cancel your last move. A hint is not cancelled
Rules
- A wrong digit turns red immediately and adds 30 seconds to your clock. A hint adds a minute.
- A correct digit removes that digit from the notes in its row, column and box.
- Hex Sudoku is the easy level. Hex Sudoku: Medium needs pairs and digits pointing out of a box, and Hex Sudoku: Hard an X-Wing, a Swordfish or an XY-Wing.
Score
- Points come only from a win: 10,000 divided by the minutes on your clock, mistakes and hints included. The faster you finish, the more points. If you end a game with End, it scores nothing.
Inspiration
Sudoku first appeared in American puzzle magazines in the 1970s. It got its name in Japan in the 1980s and then spread to newspapers all over the world.
