The chat input provides contextual hints and adapts to your content.
Contextual Placeholder
The placeholder text changes based on your current context:
In a channel:
Message to #channel — / for commands
In a PM:
Message to NickName — / for commands
In Status:
Type a command — / for list
Multi-Line Expansion
The input grows vertically as you type or paste multi-line text, up to 5 visible lines. Beyond that, a scrollbar appears. The chat messages area compresses above to make room.
Keyboard
Enter — Send message.
Shift+Enter
— Insert a new line.
The placeholder always names the conversation your message will go to. In the Status window it reminds you that only commands work there.
