Select text in the chat area by clicking and dragging. Then choose Copy in the Edit menu, or use your browser's copy shortcut, such as Ctrl+C.
Usage
1. Click and drag to select text in the chat area.
2. Open the Edit menu and choose Copy, or press Ctrl+C.
3. The selected text is copied to your clipboard as plain text.
Notes
If no text is selected, the Copy option appears disabled. Rich formatting is stripped — only plain text is copied.
Copy From the Menus
The Edit menu of the chat window has a Copy item. The View group of the Start menu has the same item. Both copy the text you selected in the message area.
This Copy item is enabled only while you have a selection inside the message area. Text selected elsewhere on the page, such as in a menu or a dialog, does not count.
Copy a Whole Message or Name
Right-click a message, or press and hold it on a touch screen, to open its context menu. You do not need to select anything first.
- Copy Message copies the line with its time and the author's nickname.
- Copy Source copies the original text with its formatting codes. It appears only when the source differs from what you see.
- Right-click a nickname, a link or a channel name to get Copy Nick, Copy URL or Copy Channel Name.
These menu items show a short Copied! confirmation when they finish.
