Hex Warlords

Versus Breakout battle — each player defends a brick castle with a king inside. Deflect or catch the fireball with your shield to smash your opponent's walls. Clear a path to the king and strike to take a life. Last king standing wins.

Hex Warlords Lives: 3 Lives: 2

Controls

  • Arrow Up / Down or W / S — Move shield vertically
  • Space (hold) — Catch fireball on shield contact
  • Space (release) — Launch fireball toward opponent

Rules

  • Each castle has 24 bricks (6 rows x 4 columns) protecting a king
  • Fireball destroys one brick on contact and bounces off
  • The king is only vulnerable when the inner column of bricks at the fireball's height is cleared
  • Hitting the king removes one life — each player starts with 3 lives
  • Castles fully rebuild between rounds after a king hit
  • Shield deflection angle depends on hit position — edges create steep bounces (up to 60 degrees)
  • Catch mechanic: hold Space when the fireball touches your shield to grab it, release to aim and launch
  • Fireball speeds up with each shield deflection (up to 1.8x initial speed)
  • First to eliminate all opponent lives wins the match

Inspiration

Based on Atari's Warlords (1980) — castle defense meets Breakout in a head-to-head duel.
