Hex Outlaw

Western duel — two gunslingers face off across a cactus obstacle. Dodge bullets you can see coming and shoot your opponent. First to 10 points wins the round, best of 3 rounds. Four distinct game modes offer different obstacles and bullet mechanics.

Controls

  • Arrow keys / WASD — Move gunslinger (vertical; horizontal in No Man's Land)
  • Space / Shift — Fire (one bullet at a time)

Rules

  • Each hit scores 1 point — first to 10 wins the round
  • Best of 3 rounds — first to 2 round wins takes the match
  • One bullet per player at a time — wait for it to hit or miss before firing again
  • Bullets travel horizontally and are blocked by obstacles
  • After each hit, a 1.5-second pause then positions reset (scores don't)
  • Bullets are visible — dodge by moving vertically

Modes

  • Quick Draw (this mode) — Cactus obstacle in the center blocks direct shots
  • Ricochet — Bullets fire at 30-degree angles and bounce once off ceiling/floor
  • Stagecoach — A moving stagecoach blocks shots with unpredictable timing
  • No Man's Land — No obstacle, but players can advance horizontally within their half

Inspiration

Based on Outlaw (1978) by David Crane for the Atari 2600.
