Hex Radio

Listen to internet radio stations from around the world, with a spectrum and an equalizer.

Hex Radio plays internet radio stations from around the world, listed by Radio Browser, an open directory of stations. Open it from Start > Accessories > Hex Radio, the Accessories folder on the desktop, or by typing /radio.

Finding a Station

The buttons under the list choose what it shows: TOP the most played stations, GENRE a menu of genres, FAV your favorites, and FIND a search by name, of at least two letters. Click a station to play it.

The Player

  • Play and Stop start and stop the station on the display; with nothing chosen, Play starts the first station of the list
  • The arrows on each side play the previous or the next station of the list
  • The star adds the station to your favorites, or takes it out; favorites are kept in this browser
  • The slider sets the volume, which is kept for next time; the speaker beside it mutes the sound without stopping the station
  • EQ and LIST show or hide the equalizer and the list of stations

Spectrum and Equalizer

Click the spectrum on the display to switch between the bars and the oscilloscope. The equalizer has ten sliders that raise or lower each band of the sound and a preamp, PRE, that raises or lowers all of it. ON switches the equalizer off and on without losing your settings, and FLAT puts every slider back in the middle.

Some stations do not share their sound with the page. They still play, but the SIM light comes on: the bars only dance along instead of following the music, and the equalizer cannot change them.

Good to Know

  • Minimize the window and the music keeps playing; close it and it stops
  • Space plays or stops and M mutes, while the window has the focus
  • Hex Radio needs an account: visitors are asked to register
  • Hex Radio is switched off when a sound or a video from a message starts
