Strips all formatting codes from messages, including bold, italic, underline, color codes, and reverse. Messages and /me actions are processed server-side before delivery.
When to use it
Use it when colored or bold text makes a channel hard to read. It is also useful against people who abuse colors to draw attention. Every message then looks the same, as plain text.
Usage
/mode +c Enable color stripping /mode -c Disable color stripping
The command changes the channel you are looking at. You do not type the channel name.
How it works
- People can still type formatting. The server removes it before anyone sees the message.
- Messages written in Markdown are also turned into plain text.
- The message is saved without its formatting. Turning the mode off later does not bring the colors back.
- Messages sent before the mode was set keep their formatting. The channel topic is not changed.
Rules and limits
- Only channel operators and owners can set or remove this mode.
- In a registered channel the mode is saved and comes back after a restart.
