Grants half-operator status to a user (prefix %). Half-operators can kick users of lower rank and grant/revoke voice (+v), but cannot set channel modes or ban users.
When to use it
Half-operator is a helper rank. Give it to people who should keep a conversation in order but should not control the channel itself. They can remove a troublemaker and manage who speaks, while the settings stay with operators and owners.
Permissions
Can: kick regular/voiced users, set +v/-v
Cannot: set channel modes, ban users, kick operators or owners
- Half-operators can speak in a moderated channel without voice.
- They cannot change a locked topic, invite people, set the welcome message or pin messages.
Usage
/mode +h Alice Make Alice a half-operator /mode -h Alice Remove half-operator from Alice
The command changes the channel you are looking at. You do not type the channel name.
Rules and limits
- Only operators and owners can give or remove half-operator status. The person must be in the channel.
- Each member holds one rank at a time. Half-operator sits above voice and below operator.
- The rank is not kept when the person leaves the channel. ChanServ access lists have no half-operator level, so give it again with the command when needed.
