+K No Knock

Prevent users from sending knock requests to the channel.

Prevents users from sending /knock requests to the channel.

Usage

/mode +K Enable no-knock mode
/mode -K Disable no-knock mode

The letter is an upper case K. The command changes the channel you are looking at. You do not type the channel name.

Details

When +K is set, every /knock attempt is refused. This is useful for invite-only channels that do not want to receive join requests.

The operators see nothing. The person who knocks gets an error that says knocking is disabled for the channel.

When to use it

A knock is a short request to join, sent to the operators of an invite-only channel. Turn knocks off when the channel is closed to new members, or when knock requests become noise or spam. Operators can still invite people directly.

Rules and limits

  • Only channel operators and owners can set or remove this mode.
  • Knocking only works on invite-only channels. Without invite-only mode, this mode has no visible effect.
  • Even with knocks allowed, each person can knock on the same channel only once per minute.
  • In a registered channel the mode is saved and comes back after a restart.
